CBC DRESS CODE

At CBC we value the importance of proper attire and presentation for the benefit and growth of our students. A clean and neat appearance is vitally important for proper dance instruction. Proper appearance sets an attitude of attentiveness and respect for students, teachers, and the tradition and art of dance! Please take the time to read through the required CBC dress code. And don’t worry, we love costumes! But we like to save the fun costumes for the stage!

All CBC levels wear a designated class leotard, pink tights, and canvas ballet slippers. Hair must be in a traditional ballet bun. To purchase your dancer’s class leotard, please see purchase links below.

WHY DO WE HAVE A DRESS CODE?

Just like a sports team wears a uniform, in dance class we feel like a team when we wear the same color and style. We want to feel unified and avoid comparisons amongst dancers as to who has the cutest sparkly skirt, or the fanciest leotard. Uniforms create unity and teamwork in the classroom. For our youngest students 3 – 5yrs, this allows our students to avoid distractions and have their attention completely focused on their instructor, while feeling a great sense of unity and team-spirit! One of the reasons we love dance so much, is that it teaches our children how to follow instruction, the values of discipline, and community, and the kind of life-skills that will prepare them for the rest of their lives! In order to gain these wonderful benefits, we must first respect the tradition of this beautiful art by adhering to a dress-code.

Ballet Bun

Proper hair etiquette is essential for all dancers! Yes, even the little ones! It is mandatory for all students to have their hair in a neat, tidy, ballet bun. We strongly encourage the use of hairspray and hair-nets, but bobby-pins are a must! We know that learning to make a ballet bun can be daunting, so we have included a ballet bun tutorial link below. If you still feel like you need a little more help with your child’s bun, please don’t hesitate to ask! Anyone at the front desk will be more than happy to assist you!
